Last year, we visited the DPD\u00a0Superhub in Hinckley to see the journey your orders take once they leave the\u00a0Keylink\u00a0warehouse in Dinnington. It inspired us to share a little more about our efforts to\u00a0minimise\u00a0our impact on the environment. Cutting Plastic & Choosing Better Materials<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In the last few years, we have made lots of choices that reduce our carbon impact, from what packaging materials we use to the distribution partner we send your parcel with.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The boxes we package your orders in are made from\u00a0largely\u00a0recycled\u00a0content, and we\u00a0recently\u00a0replaced bubble wrap and double boxing with\u00a0protective\u00a0pulp\u00a0moulding\u00a0made from 100% recyclable cardboard.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

These\u00a0small changes\u00a0have already made a noticeable difference to our sustainability, without compromising your products during\u00a0their\u00a0journey.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Stronger Sustainability: Introducing Our Branded Paper Tape <\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

One of the newest changes\u00a0we\u2019ve\u00a0made\u00a0is to\u00a0the tape that our warehouse staff use to seal\u00a0your parcels.\u00a0The\u00a0previous\u00a0plastic branded tape\u00a0was made from 40% recycled materials, but we\u00a0weren\u2019t\u00a0satisfied with that.\u00a0So, our Warehouse Manager decided to look for a better\u00a0option, and in March we made the switch to branded paper tape.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

This water-activated tape forms\u00a0a very strong\u00a0bond with cardboard, becoming part of the box surface as it dries. This means far less tape is needed compared with traditional plastic\u00a0tape\u00a0and your products are safely sealed inside\u00a0your parcel. Not only does this mean a more secure seal\u00a0using fewer materials, but the packaging is easier\u00a0for you\u00a0to recycle.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The ultimate aim with our sustainability initiatives isn’t simply to use less packaging, but to use enough and no more. Damage to products in transit as a result of not using enough protective packing materials can result in replacement shipments, additional carriage CO2, more packaging, and a longer wait for the customer. In many cases, if an item appears to be “overpacked” at first glance, the truth is often that we’ve learned that lesson the hard way! So, the more recycled and recyclable materials we can use, the better.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Lower Emissions on the Road <\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Packing materials are only one part of the sustainability picture; how your orders reach you also matters.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Working with our courier partner DPD, 25% of our total parcels in 2025 were delivered using all-electric vehicles, saving 4,184kg of CO2, compared with traditional methods.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

DPD continues to invest in its all-electric delivery fleet, with over 32% of\u00a0their\u00a0final mile delivery fleet now being\u00a0all-electric.\u00a0We\u2019re\u00a0proud to be working with a distribution partner who\u00a0care\u00a0about their impact on the environment and\u00a0have a net zero target for a 90% reduction by 2040, set against a base year of 2020.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
